The demise of America’s team led to delight for Empire State mobile betting apps, as the New York State Gaming Commission reported a record $67.3 million in sports wagering revenue for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 14.
The figure easily cleared the $32.3 million the week ending Sept. 10.
The collective hold was 15.1%, second only to the 15.4% attained the week of Oct. 15. Sportsbooks cleaned up on multiple NFL fronts during wild card weekend, with the biggest upset in their favor being the Dallas Cowboys’ 48-32 loss at home to the seventh-seeded Green Bay Packers.
The Cowboys’ loss likely contributed to a chain reaction of parlays getting blown up, further titling results in the house’s favor. The house also gained a big win with the Cleveland Browns losing 45-14 to the Houston Texans in the first game of the postseason.
It was the fifth time in 106 weeks of mobile betting that revenue sured $50 million, though three of those instances have come in the last 14 weeks. Overall handle totaled $445.7 million, down 1.4% compared to the first week of 2024.

Seven of the nine books had double-digit holds, with only WynnBET (2.4%) falling short. Resorts World, another of the three books with its best week in New York, led all operators with a 20.1% win rate, as it kept more than $321,000 of the $1.6 million worth of bets it accepted.
FanDuel remains the only operator to sur $30 million in weekly revenue, now doing so twice. DraftKings had its second-best week in New York, as it claimed $23.2 million in winnings, posting a 15.4% hold from close to $150.8 million handle. It was the fifth time DraftKings cleared $20 million in revenue, with the total trailing only the $25.1 million accrued the week ending Aug. 6.
BetRivers had its fifth-best total at $1.2 million from $10.7 million handle.
PointsBet had a top-five haul at close to $960,000 thanks to a 15% win rate on $6.4 million handle, while WynnBET was the only operator to fail to reach six figures, coming away with just over $51,000 from $2.1 million bet.
