The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) held its last public meeting to discuss the final draft of event wagering rules Friday, and the director of the ADG said the plan is to file those rules with the Arizona Secretary of State Monday in an effort to continue the push for a planned Sept. 9 launch date for sports betting.
Once the rules land with the Secretary of State, would-be sportsbook operators would have 10 days to get their applications in to the ADG, said department director Ted Vogt. A few other dates and details were discussed during the 45-minute meeting Friday morning, including:
- Daily fantasy sports is slated to start Aug. 28.
- Sportsbooks would be allowed to begin their marketing on the same day, and customers would be able to sign up — but not fund — their s as well.
- There will be no mobile wagering on tribal lands.
- Aug. 30 through Sept. 8 will be the time to finalize licensing and certification issues ahead of the sportsbook launch.
Vogt also said that once the applications start rolling in, they will be made publicly available on the ADG website. All applications would be due by Aug. 6.
